The Oregon Branch of IDA is proud to share our first informational video about Oregon’s new dyslexia legislation and frequently asked questions.
Dr. Carrie Thomas-Beck, ODE’s Dyslexia Specialist, has gone through important information that administrators, teachers, parents, and stakeholders need to know about Oregon’s new dyslexia legislation. Special thanks to Decoding Dyslexia Oregon for their impactful advocacy and grassroots efforts to obtain recognition for the needs of dyslexics in our state, for creating momentum and for organizing stakeholders that pushed for the legislation to ultimately come to pass.
Thank you, Carrie Thomas-Beck for collaborating on this important project. Additional thanks to Rachel Hansen and Jessi Sigander of NW Dyslexia Connection for directing and producing this video. Also, IDA Oregon could not have done this without the generous support of our donors and local members.

TeamQuest is creating a world where everyone can read!
Jared Blank, a native of Oregon who grew up and went to school in Portland, has partnered with TeamQuest to raise $40,000 for the International Dyslexia Association so that teachers, parents, and students can receive the resources and support they need in order to be successful.
Diagnosed with dyslexia when he was five years old, Jared learned that, for him, academic success would be a matter of hard work and endurance…
Today, Jared has completed eight marathons, has graduate degrees from Seattle Pacific University and University of Southern California, and is now training to compete in the World Marathon Challenge in January 2018, where he will run 7 marathons on 7 continents in 7 days!
“Going for this challenge, I really wanted to find something bigger than myself to be a part of. When I came across the International Dyslexia Association and TeamQuest and saw that they do endurance challenges to support literacy, I thought that was really, really cool, and it definitely hit a string with me.”
Please show your support for Jared as he takes on the World Marathon Challenge with TeamQuest by his side … until everyone can read!
